Vehicles are from a modeling / texturing point of view, considered like a small ship.

从建模和贴图的角度,要将交通工具视作小型舰船。

They will probably get instanced in cities and use special procedural algorithms ( ala GTA ) to not require too much server bandwidth.

它们会出现于城市当中,我们会使用一些特别的程序运算方式(像GTA那种),把服务器带宽的要求降到最低。

Because there are potentially a lot of vehicles on screen, their polycount should be lower than “standard” ships, in the hundreds to a thousand triangles range per vehicle.

很可能会有大量的交通工具同时出现在屏幕上,所以它们的多边形数应该比一艘标准飞船少,每一种交通工具的三角数必须为100至1000以内。

If some vehicles are particularly big, you can of course afford a few more polygons. Vehicles can be modular too ( for example flying trains made of many sections ).

Vehicles will be hovering or flying, do not use wheels. Avoid designs that look too much like our modern cars, although due to the similarity of function, there will of course be certain similarities of design...

You can add small back or underside thrusters ( or paint those in the textures ).

Vehicles don't use true anti-gravity, but thrust-based anti-gravity.

All vehicles must be UV-mapped / skinned – no generic tiled textures here.

Textures should also use at least diffuse + bump + specular + self-illum. Standard resolution should be about 512x512 per map.

Higher resolution textures are possible for particularly big vehicles, or modular vehicles( in that case, pack all the modules chunks inside the same texture ). Preferably include a custom color map ( see section about primary and secondary custom colors ) that covers most or all of the paintable surfaces, so that cars can be many different colors, much like cars today are different colors.

Most vehicles will be civilian, industrial or law related. Here are a few examples: personal cars, trains, small haulers, shuttles, taxis, police crafts, trucks, etc..
