9.1. Interaction with hardpoints
In close relation to fixed weapons, one can find forward (front) facing weapons. Note that the same theory also applies to back or side-facing weapons.
In the previous chapter it was explained that fixed weapons are a not a property of a hardpoint, but of the weapon itself. If the weapon is fixed, and if it is mounted by the player on a hardpoint that is forward-facing, then the weapon virtually becomes a “forward-facing weapon”.
When designing / modeling a ship, you should not worry at all about whether its weapons will be fixed or forward-facing. If the ship is intended to only have forward-facing, fixed weapons ( like on a small fighter ), place hardpoints at the correct location ( in the front of the ship ).
